Monday, Sep. 16, from 5:30–7 pm | LOOKING FOR A JOB? Thinking about changing careers? Stop by the Community Job Fair for an opportunity to meet with local employers, learn about career resources available at the library, and enter the drawing for a chance to win prizes, including a Chromebook. Participants include  Champaign Unit 4 Schools, FedEx, New American Welcome Center, and more. Spanish and French interpreters will be available. Part of the Get that Job! series.

Tuesdays at Ten with Fred Christensen
HISTORY WILL COME ALIVE during Tuesdays at Ten | Historical Curiosities, a five-week series with popular OLLI instructor Fred Christensen (9/3–10/1). Each talk combines fascinating information about the past with insights into how people today think about the world of their ancestors. Topics include map-making, Victorian era travel guides, “Crackpots and Cracked Pots,” and King Arthur. The fall Tuesdays at Ten series continues through November, including presentations by local experts on artificial intelligence. Meets at the Main Library on Tuesdays at 10 am.

DO YOUR KIDS like to win prize books? The Fall Reading Challenge for Kids & Teens (9/1–12/15) starts soon. We invite infants through Grade 5 students to go Nuts About Reading! Middle and high school students can also read to win. Sign up starting September 1 » 

Tech Workshops

TECH QUESTIONS? Our Getting Started workshops introduce computers, tablets, and more. We provide the equipment and materials—all  you need to do is show up! This month includes an introduction to streaming services (9/9), a two-part series on Microsoft Word (9/10 & 17), and Google Docs (9/24). Sign up online or give us a call at 217/403-2000.

The New York Times
STARTING IN SEPTEMBER, you’ll have free access to The New York Times online—including Games, Cooking, Audio, Wirecutter, and The Athletic. When you’re in the library, you can view without logging in. Otherwise, login using your Champaign library card. You’ll get to save on subscription fees, while having a chance to play Wordle, solve crossword puzzles, and cook from celebrated recipes. The New York Times is also available as part of the PressReader collection.

4,200+ Community Members Read Together This Summer!
CONGRATULATIONS to everyone who participated in the Read for the Stars! Summer Reading Challenge—including a record number of 4,263 readers of all ages. Kids and teens took home 4,500+ prize books, plus star pencils, astronaut plushies, and coupons to local businesses. Grand prize gift baskets for adult winners will be announced in early September.
