Tuesday, April 8, at 6:30 pm | CELEBRATE National Library Week with acclaimed children's author Suzanne Selfors, who wrote the bestselling Wedgie & Gizmo series. In addition to a family-friendly presentation in the evening, we are also partnering with Champaign Unit 4 Schools for visits to two elementary schools. Stop by either branch to pick up your free Wedgie & Gizmo Book Club Kit before the event!

LIKE TO WRITE? Celebrate National Poetry Month with Poetry Roundtable, Part I with author Corey Van Landingham (4/2), and Part II with local poet Jim O'Brien (4/16). EACH SPRING during Volunteer Appreciation Week, we like to recognize our volunteers, celebrating their amazing dedication and commitment. This past year 209 community members and 36 groups generously helped the library. Their contributions total 8,762 hours!
 
We also extend our gratitude to our Library, Foundation, and Friends Board members, as well as the dozens of helpers who work in our FriendShop Bookstore.

Wednesday, Apr. 9, at 9 am | TUNE IN with Brian Barnhart, host of the WDWS radio show, “A Penny for Your Thoughts,” while he broadcasts live from the library. He'll be interviewing Library Director Brittany Millington and others in honor of National Library Week.

THIS MONTH you can enjoy social media sensation Alexis Nikole Nelson, a forager and outdoor educator who uses her TikTok account (@alexisnikole) and Instagram page (@blackforager) to celebrate all the edible plants hiding in plain sight. She peels back historical layers on African American and Indigenous food traditions that have traditionally been repressed and empowers those living in food deserts with greater self-sufficiency.
